Over millions of years, the chemicals Manganese and Iron, combined with other chemicals, seeps into cracks in a rock.  It branches out, like tree branches or roots. And produces amazing pictures and scenes. These rocks are then collected, sold, displayed, and used in construction, furniture, and in many other ways. Dendrites can be worth a few cents, or thousands of dollars.

The International Association of Manganese Dendritologist (IAMnD) says: “Manganese Dendrites are Way Cool!”

According to the International Manganese Institute  (IMnI),

Manganese is a metal with numerous applications such as objects made of steel, portable batteries, fertilizers and aluminum cans, which impact our daily lives as consumers.”

And we eat and usually breathe Manganese everday.  Or else we don’t live.
